Brno is a city of many interesting and weird details. There’s the church with a statue showing its shiny butt to the people passing by. There’s the city hall’s entrance, with some details bended and tilted because the sculptor wasn’t paid the agreed amount. There’s the famous Brno dragon, which is actually an Amazonian crocodile. And there are women who turn out to be men and who take you to dark alleys. But Paco can tell you more about that.
With it’s small churches, big squares and welcoming pubs, Brno is a fantastic city to visit. We went up to the castle and to the tower of the Cathedral of SS Peter and Paul, enjoying the two best panoramic views the city has to offer.
In the evening, we went to Pivnice Pegas and had one of the best beers we had in Czech Republic: Pegas. Traditionally made there in the bar, with two slices of lemon, it was pretty damn good. Besides, the waiter gave me the beer glass! I still want to kiss that handsome man in the lips.
After that, we met our hosts through Couch Surfing, Martin and Luuca. They took us to this bizarre bar in what was, according to them, “the dangerous part of Brno”. We were pretty sure our kidneys were going to be sold to rich members of the Russian mafia, but we went inside anyway and had a great time with them. Turns out she is a medical student and he did Erasmus in Valencia, so we had a lot in common!
After that, we went to their place. The first sentence Martin said when we entered: “Who wants a shot?” We were drinking and hanging out with them the whole night. Even Morty, the curious cat joined us. It was really a night to remember.
Martin and Luuca, thank you for your kindness and hospitality. You have made all the future Couch Surfing experiences look like crap.
Next morning the crew was quite ill, so we turned the ship back to Prague earlier than we expected. Not a big deal, though, as we left Brno happy for the amazing day we spent there. We went to so many churches and drank so much that you could think we were Polish.
Brno, we will miss you!
